The mighty U9 Stengle was fortunate enough to have their first night game against Pennant Hills. Unfortunately, we had a few injuries and sickness so not everyone got to join in on all of the fun.
The game was played in great spirits, with both sides evening up so that everyone got a run. Pennant Hills even jokingly requested that we play one of our young Auskickers so that they didn’t have anyone on the bench. We were more than happy to oblige and Stengle showed their caring and inclusive qualities and made the little feller feel very welcome.
It was a very cold and brisk evening that was perhaps lost on the assistant coach who insisted that it was more comfortable to run on the field in bare feet. His decision was reversed by half time through.
Our boys keep on improving and growing every week. This was displayed this week by hanging in and sticking to our team rules of using our teammates and helping each other. The game was very close up until 3/4 time with about only a few points in it. Just after the third break the team really kicked into gear with three goals in as many minutes to Ciaran. The midfield put on a show winning countless hard ball gets and showed great execution to our forwards.
The boys had a great time and are looking forward to the next night game!
