This week the team was led out onto the field by Sami Zahra, Eliza McLeod and Lizzie Yates, all celebrating their 50th game for the Lane Cove Cats/Macquarie. This is quite an achievement and whilst Sami actually played her 50th game some time ago it was still a special celebration enjoyed by all players and parents.
Unfortunately the team couldn’t come up with a win for this special occasion, however, as is their usual style, all players put in their best efforts for the entire game. Kicking accuracy had an impact, with the Saints having only 3 more shots at goal than us.
Getting numbers to the game was a challenge this week with the school holidays having started. Thank you to the U14YG Div3 players, Matilda Teichert, Lily Saxton, Sofia Dodds and Emi Shichinohe who filled in for the game and were not out of place in Div1. There was some standout performances by a number of players and it is safe to say that the score against would have been much higher if not for the sterling efforts of Zara Love who marked, ran and kicked all game to keep the opponents away from the goal posts.
Keona was in everything and Sienna, well Sienna did what Sienna does every week, well done. Eliza and Lizzie got a goal each for their 50th game and Josie ran well whilst Milly had one of her best games this season.
All in all a great effort from the team, they should all hold their heads high.
