What a nailbiter! Team Duncan keep building towards our first win of 2021 but narrowly missed by 8 points on Sunday 28-20. Just 14 in the hoops v 21 in green produced a catfight in Marsfield, familiar territory for our ex-North Ryde Dockers.

LCC played a strong first half, thanks to good work by skipper & birthday boy Tom L, Daniel, Tom C and Jude in the ruck. Ryan the running machine snagged our first goal in Q1 then we were treated to a miraculous snap from the boundary by Ben in Q2, which gave LCC a narrow half time lead. Q3 was a low-scoring wrestle but our toughness was highlighted by Oliver’s unprecedented 15 tackles for the match and Oscar reading the play well.

With just 2 points the difference at ¾ time, we drew on the team spirit of Archer J & Sachin, who both turned up despite injury to cheer on their teammates. Jerry was thrown to full forward, so he cleverly snapped one over his shoulder to put the Cats a goal clear early in Q4. Our Cats had given their all, bravely carrying injuries & no bench rotations, so ultimately had left nothing in the tank as Willoughby kicked the last 2 to win by 8 points.

Coaches awards went to our skipper Tom L who kept cracking in all day long, and our two fine examples of LCC team culture – Archer J and Sachin.

Big thanks to parents Cam, Pete, Toni & Andy for their support on the day.
