Hope everyone has had a great Mothers Day, thanks to all the Mums/Grandma’s/Nana’s/etc who gave up their sleep in and came out to Auskick, it certainly was a great turn out this morning. There were some great skills on show during the Mums vs Kids games from both sides, and played in great spirits as well which was great to see.
We’re going to be focusing on the basic skills over the next few weeks, kicking, marking and handballs to make sure the kids get a good base as they go through the season. The U8’s will be kicking off soon so please let me know if your daughter or son wants to play in that comp (in broad terms, they are 2013 DOB), we’re currently on the cusp of 2 teams which would be great to have.
Just a reminder, we’ve got the Bring a Friend promotion running this week, if you bring a friend and nominate them to the AFL, you both get movie tickets (link here), the club will also kick in some Giants or Swans merch to help sweeten the deal. We’ve also got Ash from the AFL coming to visit next Sunday and run the new parents/kids through Auskick as a whole and a quick skills session.
I’m going to be setting up a roster for the BBQ for the rest of the season. We’ve got enough families now that hopefully it will be one week only that you’re rostered on. The club runs on volunteers, so please help us out, the egg and bacon rolls are a valuable part of the Auskick experience, for parents and kids alike!
I’ll nominate 3-4 families each week to provide a parent (or grandparent, or uncle, anyone really…) to man the BBQ, through until about 9:30 or so once the rush has finished, pretty simple, and good place to be behind the BBQ, as the cold weather sets in. If we can’t get volunteers, we won’t have a BBQ.
