26 April 2021

After taking round 1 via forfeit and warming up with an internal practice match, the u11 div 2 Duncan team came together for our first real match at Pennant Hills in round 2.

We welcomed new players from North Ryde Dockers (Byron, Ben, Josh, Daniel, Tom C & Tom L) and a few other AFL converts from rugby/soccer (Oliver & Archer) so the fresh faces were eager to impress their teammates.

Pennant Hills have an impressive history of producing quality AFL players and will always be respected. Pennant Hills started strongly and opened up a significant gap by half time. Jerry was the general in defence, Daniel was strong in the contest, while Tom C, Ben & Oscar were standing up against the opposition. We tried the old magic trick of lolly snakes at half time, which saw a bold third quarter effort. Stronger tackling led by Oliver & Harry supported Archie & Ivan’s brave ruckwork in the middle. All Cats fans were proud of the boys determination and never-say-die effort in the final quarter. Under immense pressure, Daniel the running machine, Oscar as sweeper, Ivan in the middle, Ryan, Harry & Oliver kept on fighting to the end.

Focus this week is on reinforcing the effort & resilience shown by our players in challenging circumstances.
