2020 Annual General Meeting

The Lane Cove Cats Junior AFL Club (LCCJAC) Annual General Meeting is being held 7.30 pm Wednesday 10 March 2021.

Nominations for committee positions are now being sought and to assist in the orderly proceeding of the meeting are recommended to be lodged with secretary@lanecovecats.com by 10PM Monday 8 March 2021. Verbal nominations at the meeting will also be required.

Any Member wanting more information about the roles and responsibilities of any of these positions are asked to contact Daniel Hynes at president@lanecovecats.com.

The meeting will be held virtually, with details to be released closer to the date.

Call for women committee members

For the first time in the club’s history, our current registrations are essentially split 50/50 between male and female. This compares with only two girls we had registered with the club in 2016 (Elin Ladmore and Emma Byrne). This phenomenal growth in female participation is not just occurring at our club but across the entire country as young girls are inspired by the women playing in the newly formed AFLW.

However, this is not matched by representation at the committee level. A strong club is one which has input from all sections of our membership. Therefore we calling out any Mums, Grandma’s or Auntie’s who are willing and able to help out. The time commitment can be as much or as little as you want. If you can only come to our monthly committee meetings, that’s fine. If you would love to take a bigger role, we would be thrilled.

Please don’t let a lack of football experience put you off. Organising the BBQ or helping raise money to purchase new equipment is par for the course at all junior sporting clubs. In fact, bringing in experience gained from other sports would benefit the club.  You can also be creative in your role on the committee. Have you considered holding a position jointly with a friend/s. For example, two or three people could look after the marketing/communications role.

key appointments

In 2021, we are looking for a couple of key appointments. Last you we purchased a trailer which houses our canteen. But it would be great to have a Canteen Manager to make sure its stocked with food prior to each weekend of games.

If you have flair for organising social events, we would love to hear from you. With COVID-19 restrictions easing, we are hopeful we will be able to organise some social gatherings in 2021. We are also always looking at ways to boost our fundraising activities .
