Off to a nice start for our U12YGs, with home ground advantage and sunny day for our game against Mosman Swans. There was a breeze blowing, which Coach Dan talked through the tactics of playing to our strengths.Kick with the breeze and maximise our goal scoring opportunities, and then defend well when we are playing into the breeze.

It is really noticeable how the players have improved in the last few weeks. The team work is showing, where players are starting to spread out across the zones, but also actively move forward and back with the run of play.

Performances of note this week
Eliza – 4 shots at goal in 2 minutes, where she was in the perfect positions leading in the forward half while the opposition kept returning the ball to her.
Josie – strong sense of when to go for the ball and when to tackle with some good marking in play and a useful goal
Sibella – much more involved in the game play this week, with plenty of contesting for the ball.
Emi – Contact and tackling without fear
Kayla – Plenty or running, and great to get the ‘behind’ scoring opportunity.
Lizzie – Absorbed in most of the contests and kicking the ball into free space as well as scoring a goal
Polly, Chloe and Imogen – Great defending this week
Celeste – Proof that being quick scooping up the ball and accurate with her kicking can lead to goals
Genevieve – Great communicator during play, and certain for future Lane Cove Cats Club Presidency role.
Sami –  Beautiful marking from the centre, and kicked a nice sweet goal.
Lily – Always amongst the play in the centres
Farah – Lots of courage this week and staying part of the play.

Point scorers today were:
Celeste 1:1
Eliza 0:5
Kayla 0:1
Josie 1:1
Lizzy 1:1
Sami 1:0
