Match Report Round 2: Lane Cove Cats U8 Narkle vs Balgowlah Suns Blue U8 Sunday 19th May

Such an impressive display yesterday morning by the team!  The communication is getting better on the field and the players are learning more about themselves and their team mates capabilities. It was a fascinating game to watch with patches of each team dominating and plenty of fast turnover sling-shot style footy with run and carry through the midfield.

Evan Bertocchi was our captain yesterday and he lead from the front.  His family were on oranges duty.  Thank you Piero and Mahala, and with the oranges I think Evan bought his own ball or at least it seemed like that whenever he was in the midfield.  His run and carry were on display as was his beautiful kicking.

Up forward Jake Spiden couldn’t do a thing wrong and clunked every mark and passed the ball around to his fellow forwards Jack and Ethan.  Carlton could have done with this skilled trio yesterday afternoon instead of McGovern and the Curnow brothers!

Maddison played another great game, working hard for the team dishing out the ball by foot or hand passing and marking well. Will Spring, Eddie Callaghan and Charlie Moten getting better as the game went on and Ethan, Marcus and Max putting pressure on their opponents and making a real contest through the middle of the ground to help turn the play and let the Suns know they were at Blackman Park not at Balgowlah Oval.

Special mention to Jordan Spinks who is icing his right foot this evening after kicking the cover off the ball, converting four majors in a quarter of football…..not that we are counting!

An early start next week and an away game at North Narabeen Reserve playing the Pittwater Tigers, arriving at 7:30 AM for warm ups please.
