Match Report Round 7 – U9 Hawkins Sunday 27th May

It was a chilly start to the day with photos at 8am at Blackman Park before the U9 Hawkins team took on the Balgowlah Suns.

Fortunately both teams were missing a few players, so both played with only 11 players on the field. Similar to the previous rounds, the Hawkins team had a slow start with the Suns dominating the first quarter.

Unfortunately this continued through the rest of the game. The Suns were a tough opposition with lots of a bumps and a few bruises with the magic spray getting a good run. The team continues to develop their skills evidenced by some really good marks paid during the game and some great kicks to open players.

Focus for the coming game will be staying in their respective zones, marking up on the opposition players and being more supportive in commentary when team members make an error. Congratulations to James O’Dowd for the Best Defensive Player of the day, and Tom Bredenhann for Team Player of the day. Special thank you also to Marcus Graham for standing in as the Coach of the day.
