Important information for juniors

5 March 2018

We are fast approaching the start of the season. Between now and round 1, we will be conducting a variety of training sessions and team events to prepare the boys and girls for the AFL Sydney Junior 2018 season.

This year we have a couple of new initiatives that should make it easier on volunteers and rewarding for the players. For mid-week training, we will have some assistant coaches from nearby youth and senior football clubs. This will be an invaluable resource for head coaches, enabling them to spend more time on improving the skills of individual players.

We will also be employing a ground manager to manage game days at Blackman Park. In the past, this very important job as been placed on parents from each team. However, we felt that the burden was too great. So we will have a dedicated person to make sure everything runs smoothly. Despite this, each team will still need to provide a volunteer to help assist the ground manager with jobs such as time keeping, or general crowd management.

Below are a list of club wide events that you should be aware of. Once teams are formed, your coaches and team managers may be in contact with you regarding team specific issues.

Register now!

If you haven’t already done so, please register as soon as possible. We are in the final stages of submitting our teams to the AFL, so we need clarity on our numbers.

In particular, we are keen to here from any girls who are considering playing AFL. We are entering a girls team in the U10, U12 & U15 competitions. This isn’t just for accomplished players. Its a great way for new girls to experience what AFL has to offer in a fun and safe environment. In the younger age groups, there is minimal tackling and the focus is on skill development.

In some of the mixed competitions, we are also getting close to closing registrations in certain ages groups.

So don’t wait any further, click here to register your child.
