As you may have been aware, last week was Community Volunteer Week. As part of this, AFL Sydney Juniors designated round 15 as Volunteer Round at all junior games.
We couldn’t do what we do without your help and support. You are the heart and sole of this club, and I get nothing but great feedback from the wider club about all the hard work you do.
Among that great member base, we have some people who have gone beyond the call of duty.
Managing and coaching a group of kids is never easy. So we tip out hat to all those who put their hand up to help out during the season.
Everyone from the water carrier, right up to the coach does their part in creating a wonderful environment for the kids to learn and enjoy their footy.
We have had great success with the BBQ in 2017. This was the first year we have held the BBQ on a regular basis. Its a welcome sight for parents (& kids) who had to rush out the door to get to early Auskick or junior games. But it also created a nice atmosphere at Blackman Park, with families hanging around and chatting while munching on an egg & bacon roll or sausage.
This has been driven by three fantastic people; Michelle Hawtin, Caroline McDonald and Jane Zahra.
We also love the little things that people have been doing during the year.
Sally Byrne found some time to put together some material for the club. It started with a great banner for the U8 team to run through every week. And just recently she has made LCC trestle table cover to be used for special events such as Presentation Day.
Another great initiative was the presentation of Haigh’s chocolates to all Mums from the U11 team. Well done to Paul Schofield for arranging this.
On behalf of the committee, I sincerely thank you for all you hard work.
