We are heading into the back end of the season, which means plenty of upcoming club events are not that far away.
Sports Legends Lunch, 21 July
Time is counting down to this major fundraising effort for our club. If you haven’t already, click here to purchase your tickets.
We have had to re-jig the lineup, with Liby Trickett pulling out. In her place we have Kirsty Marshall. During her skiing career Marshall won over 40 World Cup medals, including 17 World Cup gold medals. Marshall competed in aerial skiing as a demonstration sport at the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, and as a medal event at the 1994 Lillehammer and 1998 Nagano games, where she came sixth and fourteenth, respectively.
AFL player visits, 29 July
Sam Reid (GWS Giants) will be visiting the club on Friday 29 July. Sam is our designated player from the GWS, and has been having a great season with the club.
He will be present to help with training and some Q&A after the session. This will be held on the synthetic oval from 4:30pm.
Gala Days, 13 August
For teams in age groups U10 and below, there are no finals. In their place, the AFL hold Gala Days. These usually involve around 4-5 matches in a round robin format. Once details are available, we will send around to each team. But in the meantime, please pencil this into your calendar.
A day at the footy, 19 August
The GWS Giants are offering free tickets to their game against WC Eagles (19 Aug) to any members of our club.
Team Presentation Day, 3 September
We will be holding our team presentations on Sunday 3 September from 12-4pm. While it will be primarily held on the synthetic field at Blackman Park, we will also have the scout hall (if the weather goes against us).
All team awards (best & fairest, coaches award etc) will be presented on the day. We will fire up the BBQ and probably have a few fun games of footy.
This is also the ground final day for Sydney Harbour Juniors. So hopefully we have the issue of the U11 team absent for the early part of the day due to playing in the grand final.
Soiree, 9 September
Due to the success of the Sports Legends Lunch, the Soiree is now more of a celebration of the year rather than a fundraising event.
This year we are trying somewhere different. We have secured the Chatswood Golf Club, which has a lot more room. There will be a TV with the footy on, while great finger food will be provided. People will be able to purchase drinks from the bar.
Tickets will go on sale later this month.
