We had a record number of Auskickers descend on Blackman Park on a wet Sunday morning. With so much enthusiasm waiting to burst out, it wasn’t long before we had footy’s flying all over the place. The Auskick coordinators did a great job managing such a large group. However, we can always do with more. So if there is anyone who wants to get more involved, please contact Peter Beck.
In the juniors, the rain still played havoc with the schedule. Many games were transferred due to ground closures, however only one game was cancelled. However,
If you were at Blackman Park, you would of noticed the AFL goal posts standing proud on the synthetic field. The council has finally allowed us to keep the posts permanently during the winter season. For us, it simplifies the ground preparation. But it also makes the ground feel like a footy field.
We also welcomed a few new people to the committee this week. Victoria Davis, Jono Ladmore and Amanda Webb have been around the club for a couple of seasons, but were keen to get more involved. For that we are internally grateful. This club would not exist if not for the dedicated group of volunteers we have.
We are also planning to have the BBQ up and running for round 2 this weekend. Each week we will be asking a team to take responsibility for operating the BBQ. Over the course of the season, the commitment will be relative small. Each team will only expected to help out for 2 weekends for three hours each time. So please keep an eye out for the email from your child’s team manager.
Good luck and I’ll see you on the park!
