The “net growth” rate over the previous 12 months incorporates both recruitment and retention. This is about quality and quantity, hence why Lane Cove received the reward.
Retention is something we pride ourselves on here at LCC. Getting boys and girls to re-enroll in the club every year is important for a new club such as ours. This involves having a good parent orientation program, keep the club volunteer coordinator program active, as well as making registration easy (ie online).
However you also can’t ignore recruitment. We saw our player registration numbers rise by over 50% this year; as word of mouth spread about the great Auskick and junior programs the club offers. This has been complimented by running programs in schools (with the help of AFL NSW/ACT) and promoting various visits & activities involving AFL players at the start of the year.
